COMICS COFFEE CLUTCH CREW

  • On 13 Feb | '2015

Greeting Loyal Airmen and welcome to another Flight Log entry.  In the past, the Air Chief has several times mentioned the informal group of comicbook creators we get together with on various occasions.  Whereas all of us try to meet for breakfast on the first Saturday of ever month.  We’ve been doing this for almost four years now.

CoffeeCrew

This past Sat, eleven of the Fort Collins Comics Coffee Clutch Crew got together at our local deli for several hours of fun talking comics, movies and whatever fun stuff came to mind.  Above is a shot of those in attendance.  Going around the horseshoe from left to right we have, Tim Orr, Mike Baron, the Air Chief, Bryan Richmond, Ben Mikilsen, Abrah Akins, Steve Emmons, James Gabauz, Todd Jones, Rio Herrera and Thomas Webster.  The Air Chief truly looks forward to these monthly get-together.

NH-Pin

A few weeks ago, we mentioned that our latest pulp book would coming out in June from Moonstone Books and it features our flying hero, NIGHTHAWK.  When the Air Chief first mentioned this project over on Facebook, a fellow pulp enthusiast, Jack Maxwell, contacted us about possibly designing an emblem for the character. After a bit of back and forth, Jack came up with the logo above.  In fact, we liked it so much, we showed it to the artist doing the cover to the book and he is incorporating it in the cover.

PINS

This this morning the mail arrived and with it a package from Jack that contained three very wonderful items, all hand-crafted by this talented fellow.  There was authentic Spider ring like the one worn by that famous pulp avenger and two flying pins.  The top is of the classic G-8 and the bottom is that of our own hero, NIGHTHAWK.  It is the exact logo seen above sculpted into a pin.  And this picture truly doesn’t do it justice.  Believe us, Loyal Airmen, any of you planning on attending the Pulp Cons this year, ala the Windy City show and Pulp Fest can expect to see this gorgeous pin on the Air Chief’s shirt.  Oh, yeah.
