ONE SUPER BUSY WEEK
- On 15 Nov | '2013
Greetings Loyal Airmen, this past week has been one amazing roller coaster ride for the Air Chief, in mostly good ways with one major speed bump along the way. We've tons of good stuff to share with you, so let's get with it.
Last weekend we were guest at the first ever Rocky Mountain Con in Denver and we had a blast. Met so many wonderful fans and some colleagues for the very first time. One, artist Kevin Johnson, painted our second SINBAD The New Voyages anthology and meeting him was a blast. Enough so that we've cooked up a very special comic book project we are going to be working on. More as that develops. As ever there were so many costume players on hand, including the Ghostbusters above who stopped by my table. The dude on the far right is my pal Alex Eggleston.
Now remember that bump in the road we talked about earlier? Well a few days after con we were working in the office on another pulp title when our 15 years old computer up and died on us. The big fear of any production outfit like ours. Happily the hard-drive survived, maintaining all our files both text and photos. We had to be shut down for a few days while we bought a new PC and had the data transferred but now all is well, we're up and running again on a much faster and more efficient machine.
If you'll recall, a few months ago we announced that Dark Horse Comics would soon be releasing a brand new edition of our old TERMINATOR BURNING EARTH mini-series for the defunct Now Comics. Well that beautiful book collected as a graphic novel hit the comic shelves this past week and we are thrilled. It features the first ever comic works of super-start Alex Ross. Above is my good buddy, fellow writer, Todd Jones and the Air Chief, at the local comic shop here in Fort Collins showing off a copy of the book. Word I'm getting is they are flying off the shelves, so make sure you grab one before they are all gone. So many of our fans have told us over the years how much they wanted this book. Now is your chance.
At the start of the week Airship 27 Productions released our newest pulp title, the first ever Brother Bones full length novel, SIX DAYS OF THE DRAGON, and no, we didn't write it. This is a character we created almost a decade ago and he's appeared in a half-dozen short stories that we published in a collection which won over many pulp fans. Among them was writer Roman Leary who over the years became one of the characters biggest fans. Enough so that he proposed this idea of writing a Brother Bones novel for us. After reading his detailed plot, the Air Chief was thrilled by the story and gave him the green light to proceed. Award winning artist Rob Moran signed on to do the book's 9 black and white interior illustrations and the amazing cover seen above, which was colored by artist Shannon Hall. The book is quickly becoming the best selling Airship 27 Productions title ever released. It is now available at Amazon both as a hard copy and in Kindle. We hope you'll check it out. Roman tells an awesome pulp tale you don't want to miss.
And our final news of the week is that we've been recruited by Moonstone books out of Chicago to write a brand new black and white pulp comic book series. It is called THE SPIDER – DOMINO LADY and teams these two classic pulp heroes. The book will be 22 pages and appear bi-monthly. Our run begins with issue # 3 which should be out early next year. The artist is twenty year veteran, Michael Dorman who extremely talented and having a blast working our our first script which we turned in a week ago. Stay tuned Loyal Airmen, as we'll let you know more as the official release date becomes available to us. We've written prose stories of both these great characters but this is the very first time we'll get to do comic adventures and we couldn't be more thrilled.
And there you have it Loyal Airmen, a ton of cool stuff as we work our way towards Thanksgiving. Thanks for stopping by as ever and hopefully one of these days we'll be guest at a con near you.
Ron – Over & Out!
