Greetings Loyal Airmen, this week’s Flight Log is about how all our lives are a constant mixture of the past and future as we all travel this road called life. And with a few days of each other, two poignant events in the Air Chief’s life brought that all to clarity. In regards to the past, we were saddened to hear of the passing of former Charlton Editor George Wildman.  Wildman, along with his assistant editor, Bill Pearson was the man responsible for the try-out series Charlton Bullsyes began in the mid-1970s to help give new talent a shot.

It was in the Charlton Bullseye (issue # 3) that artist Gary Kato and the Air Chief had our first ever comics work published; thus making us pros. The following year they asked us for another tale which ended up being the debut appearance of our Mr. Jigsaw Man of a Thousand Parts in Charlton’s Scary Tales # 38.  And as they say, the rest is history. But what a totally different history it might have been for both of us had it not been for George Wildman.  R.I.P sir, and thanks.

Whereas this time of year is overwhelmed with dreams of the future as colleges and high schools celebrate their new class graduations.  Among them last weekend was the Rocky Mountain High School class of 2016 among which was our grandson, Alex.  Above is a snapshot of him after the even with his older sister Cora on his left and their good friend Tinisha on his right.  Val and the Air Chief, as is all our family, proud beyond words of this young man. And we know he truly has an amazing and bright future ahead of him.  God bless you, Alex.

Finally we want to wish all you Loyal Airmen a wonderful Memorial Day weekend as we kick off the summer season. But at the same time ask you to take a moment to remember why we celebrate this day.  Unlike Veteran’s Day where we thank all our brave men and women in uniform, past and preset, Memorial Day is what it says, a day to memorialize all those who gave their lives for our country.  Who died to guarantee our freedoms and way of life. We must never forget them, both in out hearts and prayers, especially on this weekend.  May they all rest in God’s loving eternal rest forever.
