NEW HORNET SHORT

  • On 24 Aug | '2012

Greetings Loyal Airmen.  Well as we get closer to the Labor Day weekend and the end of the summer seasons many schools around the area are once again in session. Our grand kids, Cora & Alex are both back in school, Alex beginning his high school career. Both attend Rocky Mountain High here in Fort Collins, CO. Cora is a junior this year. While back in New England, our oldest grand child, Kristi, has started her junior year at the University of New Hampshire while her sister, Chelsea, is starting her senior year of high school at Noble High in Maine. Some time in the next week as well, the two youngest, Taryn and Logan will be in new classes in there hometown of Bethel, Conn. Naturally we wish them all a terrific school year ahead.

On the writing front, the Air Chief's newest published work is another Green Hornet just out in Moonstone Books' third Green Hornet anthology.  It's called, “DEATH FROM BEYOND,” and the book is now on sale in both soft and hard cover at fine booksellers everyone and on-line. The gorgeous cover for the soft back above was done by artist Doug Klauba.  Hope you'll check it out.

Finally, one of the Air Chief's all time favorite comic book heroes is the Rocketeer as created by the late Dave Stevens.  Twenty-five years ago Disney made a great movie based on the comic and it remains one of our all time favorites as well.  It starred Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin & Timothy Dalton and is pure pulp and serial fun from start to finish with a great James Horner.  Well, this week, there has been a rumor circulating through the internet that Disney is strongly considering doing a new version of this movie.  Obviously we've mixed feelings about this as all too often such movie adaptations fall flat.  At the time of its release, the first ROCKETEER movie was a wonderful exception in that it perfectly captured the fun and magic of the comic series.  If Disney can recruit the proper writers and cast to do justice to Steven's great character, then this fan will be the first in line to buy a ticket.

And there you have for this week, Loyal Airmen.  Hopefully next week we'll be announcing the release of Airship 27 Productions' latest pulp title. Till then, be well.
