BROTHER BONES – THE MOVIE

Dear Loyal Airmen, we’ve had ourselves one hell of a couple of weeks.  A small film outfit out of Seattle named Franklin – Husser, Entertainment LLC, approached the Air Chief two weeks ago requesting our approval to make a feature length movie starring our original pulp hero, Brother Bones – The Undead Avenger.  In their letter to us, they went on to explain how much they loved our Brother Bones stories and very much wanted to do a movie that would capture the character exactly as he appears in our stories…not changing a thing.  Along with their letter was a short two minute text video they did to help convince us.  The above image is a screen shot from that video clip showing Bones overlooking his city of Cape Noire at night. Let us say, the Air Chief was never more amazed and delighted upon viewing that short little film.  These gentlemen have tons of cinematic storytelling talents and after viewing this clip, we were only too happy to give them permission to proceed with the project. They offered the Air Chief the job of writing the screenplay but in the end, after actually speaking with Erik Franklin and Daniel Husser, we agreed the Air Chief would write the full plot outline from which Erik would write the shooting screenplay and then both Erik and the Air Chief will take equal credits.  We have since written that outline and Erik is now buys on that screenplay.  Again, it has been a wild couple of weeks for the Fortiers and there is a whole lot more that needs to happen for such an undertaking to become a reality. Please keep your fingers crossed for all of us and hey, few prayers along the way would certainly be appreciated.  Naturally keep following this blog and we will keep you all posted as the project moves forward.

And while all of us were going crazy over the movie deal, our Airship 27 Art Director, Rob Davis was in Little Rock, AK, at the River City Comic Expo holding down the show.  Rob reports it was a really fun show and he met lots of really nice fans.

One of the highlights of Rob’s weekend was his accepting the Pulp Award at this show for Best Pulp Anthology for our “Legends of New Pulp Fiction.”  Again, thanks from the bottom of our hearts to all of you who helped make this book such an overwhelming success.

Happy to report our favorite Man of a Thousand Parts is getting some really great exposure lately.  The Mr. Jigsaw & Liberty Belle team up strip with did with Gary Kato for our own book gets reprinted in full color in the new issue of Mort Todd’s excellent Charlton Arrow. They do the first half the story, the second to appear in the next issue. Trust me, Mort’s coloring of this strip is amazing. We just got our copy in the mail the other day.

Speaking of Mr. Jigsaw, earlier this week artist pal Darren Goodhart decided to color the Jiggy pin-up he’d done for us a while back.  We’d published it in the back of one of the collected editions in black and white. Imagine the Air Chief’s surprise when we saw Darren not only did a great job of coloring the piece, but he slapped the original Charlton Comics Scary Tales cover behind his figure on the jigsaw pieces. What a great job. Enough so we’re hoping to get Darren to do the actual cover to our next issue of Mr. Jigsaw Man of a Thousand Parts.  Stay tuned.

HolmesKindle2

Last year we collected a bunch of Sherlock Holmes stories by writer I.A. Watson and published as a Kindle Only edition.  Well, that book is selling so well, we just today released a second volume in the series, this time all by writer Aaron Smith. Again, this is only available on Kindle.  So if you’re heading for the lake or beach this summer and want to download some excellent reading on your Kindle, the Air Chief would humbly suggest this great title. As ever, thanks for your support.

And that’s it for this week Loyal Airmen.  Time to get back to the movie script.
