Greetings Loyal Airmen, well the past three weeks in Maine have come and again. Just like that. Oh yeah. Valerie and the Air Chief has so much visiting with family and friends that we hadn’t seen in over a year, some two. As always, we stated in Wells Beach, ME. as is evidenced by that first pix above at left showing us enjoying the Atlantic Ocean. Note, while there we ate lots and lots of fantastic seafood from sea scallops to clams and haddock. Three days in, oldest son Scott, drove all the way up from his home in Bethel, Conn. to spend a day with us. It’s always so wonderful to see him and get caught up on how is family is getting along. We treated him to a lunch at Billy’s, a seafood diner just down the road. One highlight of our visit was visiting our daughter Michelle and her husband Chris who live in a beautiful lake house in Acton. Granddaughters Chelsea (at left above) and Kristi (cut out at far right) framed Val in background and Michelle in front for generational pix. Then we have Michelle and Val just as we were about to get aboard Chris’ pontoon boat for a trip around the lake. Aghhh….accidentally trimmed the group shot above so redoing it here. Left to right, Chelsea, her Mom Michelle, Val and Kristi. And of course Val with grand daughters Chelsea & Kristi and check out that gorgeous Fall Foliage in the background.Of course visiting family and friends was the focus of the trip. Pix at upper left has (left to right) Air Chief, Val, her sister Barbara and husband Gus, then her sister Sandy and husband Andy. Pix on the right, (left to right) my dear friend Ron and his wife Kim, and then Val and the Air Chief. Note, both were taken at two separate restaurants specializing in seafood. Oh yeah. And finally we thought it would be fitting the end these photo memories with two dealing with some very special creatures. A while back our daughter Michelle rescued an abused dog named Rosey. She had suffered a great deal before Michelle came along and gave her the love she deserved. Rosey is a beautiful Rottweiler and she and the Air Chief became fast buddies. Also, on our very first day in Wells, while walking along the mile road to the beach, we looked up and spotted two majestic bald eagles taking a rest atop a telephone poll. Val immediately snapped the pix above. And that dear Loyal Airmen are only a few of the dozens of great memories we made these past few weeks. Hope you enjoyed them.
BROTHER BONES KICKSTARTER SUCCESS
Of course while the Air Chief was gone, lots of projects kept rolling along in our absence. Chief of these was the last four days of our Brother Bones Origin graphic novel campaign over at Kickstarter, which reached its goals a full 48 hours before the deadline. All thanks to artist Joe Arnold’s diligence and all our friends and colleagues who supported it. At present Joe is putting together the final few pages. Digital copies will be sent out to all who contributed soon, and within a few more weeks the hard copies themselves. Once again, thanks so very, very much. Do let us know your thoughts on the book when you get it and here’s hoping we’ll have the same success when we put issue # 2 together.
A NEW SHERLOCK HOLMES STORY COLLECTION
At the same time, Art Director Rob Davis at Airship 27 Production was busy putting the finishing touches on our latest Sherlock Holmes title. It’s a collection of stories by writer I.A. Waston called the “The Paralipomena of Sherlock Holmes.” Rob did all the interior illos and the cover painting as seen above was done by Dr. John Waeltz, a gifted fellow we met at last year’s Windy City Paper & Palp show. The book is now available at Amazon in both paperback and on Kindle.
JIN & TONIK # 2
Artist Cesar Feliciano and colorist Matt Webb also kept very busy with great new pages like the one above for the our modern day spy thriller, JIN & TONIK. In a recent post to the team, Cesar let it be known how anxious he is to have this issue wrapped up and off to all our fans.
And there you have it Loyal Airmen, vacation is over, it was great, and new it’s back to making comics and editing pulp books. You know, ala the movie title, it really is a wonderful life the Air Chief has been blessed with. So then stay well and we’ll see you back here next Friday. Ron – Over & Out!
