PREQUEL TO SCI-FI CLASSIC

  • On 10 Jun | '2016

Greetings Loyal Airmen, the warm weather we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived with temps here in Colorado rising weekly.  80s and 90s getting to be the norm.  Part of which was most helpful last weekend.

The Fort Collins Open Street which we mentioned in last Friday’s Flight Log went off without a hitch this past Sunday. The day was beautifully as we set up a small table with our Mr. Jigsaw comics and prepared to greet neighbors and other people out to have a good time.  One of the first to come visit us was Batman!  Yup, that’s our old buddy Alex in his great 60s costume.

Alex wasn’t the only cos-player to enjoy the neighbor event, later that afternoon several others stopped by our table including these three young ladies who are promoting this year’s Fort Collins Comic Con happening in Aug. Hidden by me in this pix, is our son Alan. Thanks to Val for snapping the pictures. It really was a great day.

TARGET

And while we were all enjoying ourselves at the Open Street event, some fool across town drop his SUV straight one of those giant red cement balls in front of the local Target’s store. Don’t believe that’s possible, check out the photos above posted by our town newspaper.  Police had to call in a heavy-duty tow-truck to get him off the ball. The Air Chief doesn’t think this is what was meant by National Red Ball day.

Air-129

And now, after a really slow period in May, Airship 27 Productions proudly announces the release of it’s latest title – THE TOWERS OF METROPOLIS based on the classic sci-fi silent film of German director Fritz Lang first released in 1927. This has been one of the Air Chief’s favorite flicks and this anthology tells four brand new stories set in that fabulous city before the events of the movie.  Our writers are Erik Franklin, Michael Panush, Kevin Noel Olson and William & Michael Maynard. The latter two are a father and son team. William has written for us in the past where as this is the first fiction tale he has ever written with his teenage son Michael. Obviously it is a proud moment for all involved.  Also author Fred Adams Jr. kicks off the book with a great essay on the film history of Metropolis. We have a dynamite cover by the great Michael Kaluta and amazing interior art by our pal Pedro Cruz all making this one of the finest books we’ve ever produced.  As ever it is available at Amazon in hardcopy and with a few days will be out on Kindle. We think the book is special and hope all you Loyal Airmen will agree.

And that’s it for this week, Loyal Airmen. We’ve got a huge announcement coming your way next week, so see you back here in seven days.
