WE BREAK PODCAST RECORD

  • On 8 Apr | '2016

Greetings Loyal Airmen, later today the 14th episode of AIRSHIP 27 THE PODCAST will go live on-line.  Last weekend, shortly after mentioning Rob and the Air Chief were getting set to record this new episode, we learned from Brant Fowler, the owner of Gonzo Goose Productions which records our show that our last episode had broken all their previous records with 1,427 downloads!!  We were bowled over!! Over 14 hundred Loyal Airmen out there are listening to our show.  Wowser!!  Rob and the Air Chief simply can’t thank you enough. This kind of support is just great and totally inspires to keep doing the show.  Thanks so much.

Now as most of you Loyal Airmen are aware, Rob Davis and the Air Chief do a regular comic series entitled RON FORTIER’S TALES OF THE MACABRE wherein we present a bunch of black and white short strips all written my the Air Chief. And the fun of this is that we get to appear on the cover of each issue, more or less in the role of your comic book host to the issue such as those above.

Now somewhere in the near future, a forthcoming issue of this series will feature a story called DEATH DERBY.  Sort of a manga style version of the famous Roger Corman classic B-flick DEATH RACE 2000.  The artist on the strip is the amazing Barry McClain and while discussing the project, we suggest the possibility of Barry doing a racing type cover for the issue the story will appear in.  But of course, with me totally in the scene as ever.  So early yesterday morning, Valerie took her phone-camera and snapped several shots of the Air Chief acting like a clown outside our home to hopefully come up with a pose that will be useful to Barry when he sits down to pencil the image.  Above is one of the three we sent him this morning. Upon seeing them, he broke out in laughter.  As you can see, Loyal Airmen, there isn’t much the Air Chief won’t do for his stories.  And rest assured, we’ll repost this very image after that particular cover is completed.

David Price

On Tuesday, the Red Sox opened their 2016 season in Cleveland playing the Indians in frigid weather conditions, but still took the victory lead by new Ace pitcher David Price’s 10 strike-outs and homers by both Mookie Betts and David Ortiz to win by a final score of 6 – 2.   GO SOX!!  So happy baseball is back!!

On the audiobook front, Radio Archives continues to put fantastic audio versions of our Airship 27 pulp books. This week they released the Air Chief’s own BROTHER BONES – THE UNDEAD AVENGER as read by F. Scott Bennett. Trust me, if you’ve read and enjoyed this book, wait until you listen to it.  Bennett is an amazing reader and it feels like old time radio.  Available from www.Audible.com –

Finally as most of you Loyal Airmen are well aware, Airship 27 Productions did a giant benefit anthology for our fellow publisher Tommy Hancock last year and had the book released a week before Christmas.  All proceeds were to be for Tommy and his family to defray of serious medical bills they’d been slapped with when he took unexpectedly ill at the end of summer.  Well, not only is Tommy doing much better these days, but the book, once released, sold through the roof and this past week we sent Tommy the biggest single royalty check we’ve ever paid out in our ten years of publishing.  And that’s all because of YOU, the people who jumped on board and supported this project. We can’t thank you enough.  Of course, why stop here? The book is still available at Amazon as a whopping big hard copy or on Kindle.  There’s even an audiobook works, we kid you not.  So if you haven’t got a copy, now is a good time to pick one up and help a really good guy and his family in the process. Oh, and Rob and the Air Chief will have 10 copies on our tables at the Windy City Pulp & Paper con coming up at the end of the month.  Betting they’ll sell out fast, so if you plan on being at the show and want one, hurry on over.

And that’s another Flight Log, Loyal Airmen, as ever, many thanks for stopping by and we’ll see you here next week.

Ron – Over & Out!
