ZONE 4

  • On 26 Nov | '2010

Greetings Loyal Airmen.  As we write this latest Flight Log, our first Thanksgiving in our new Colorado home is coming to a happy end. It's been a great holiday and we sincerely hope it was for all of you as well.  Our sciatica problem hasn't completely healed as yet and the past week has been arduous at times, but with Val's loving care, we are slowly getting back to normal. Hopefully by this time next week, the Air Chief will be lots more like himself health wise. Just keep those kind thoughts and prayers coming, they are working.

Comic Writers Cary Kelley & Brant Fowler
Earlier in the year we posted the above photo taken at this year's Champion City Comic Con in Springfield, Ohio.  Brant, Cary, along with John Wilson and Chuck Kennedy have been hosting a weekly podcast about comics called ZONE 4.  In the past few weeks the Air Chief was invited on board as a sub when one of the four could not make a recording and truly enjoyed the experience.  This afternoon we were informed that because of a truly busy creative schedule, John has had to leave hosting the show.  Brant contacted us on behalf of himself, Chuck and Cary with an invitation to fill the empty hosting chair.  We were only too happy to accept this wonderful invitation and eager to do our first podcast as a regular.   ZONE 4 records every Sat. evening and then that episode is posted the following Friday night on the Comic Related website. Valerie always said we belonged in radio and podcasting is the internet version of radio.  We hope many of you Loyal Airmen will give a listen.  This is going to be so much fun.

Speaking of Comic Related fun things, check out the mock-up above.  One of the founding members of CR, Darren Mueller had this great idea of doing a trading card set featuring characters from those independent creators who belong to CR and frequent its forums all the time.  Rob Davis and the Air Chief thought this was a terrific idea and have contributed Mr.Jigsaw to the set.  The above image is ONLY a mock-up of what the back of a such a trading will look like.  The front would feature that cover of  Jiggy # 1, but without the yellow text blurb.  We've ordered 750 of these cards with the intent of passing them out to our fans at future conventions.  Darren thus far has recruited well over twenty creators for this first ever Comic Related Indy Trading Card Series.  As soon as the real cards are finished, we'll be sure to post the news right here.

The Air Chief's new fun center.
When we moved half-way across the country, from New Hampshire to Colorado, we hired a moving truck to carry all our belongs and they did a super job.  Sadly one item was damaged in the process and it was our big screen TV.  Whereas the outfit was insured, they instructed us on how to fill out a claim form and we're only to glad to reimburse us for the price of the broke set.  Earlier this week, while the Air Chief was still tied to his office chair, astride another cold pack, Valerie and our son, Alan, went TV shopping to get us a new unit.  Two hours later they came home with the above set-up.  Val had picked up the new big-screen TV and a new fangle sound strip from the insurance funds. Then Alan surprised her, and eventually the Air Chief, by adding a Blue-Ray player to the package as his early Christmas gift to us.  Needless to say the Air Chief was delighted and most grateful.  Alan got it all set up with the help his son, Alex, that very night.  The picture and sound quality are amazing and the Air Chief is once again able to enjoy watching movies.  Talk about a great Thanksgiving.  Thanks, Al, Nicole, Cora and Alex.  That was the coolest gift of all.

Christmas is just around the corner.
And so with Thanksgiving here, Val and Alan set about putting up our decorations.  Everything looks so festive. We were playing Christmas music while enjoying our Thanksgiving dinner.  This is a truly wonderful time of year and as we enter into the holiday season, all of us here at Airship 27 want to wish all our Loyal Airmen and their families a truly special season.  Thanks for stopping by as always and we'll see you back here in seven days.

Ron – Over & Out.
