WHILE WE WERE GONE
- On 8 Nov | '2024
Greetings Loyal Airmen, after an entire week to recoup, we’re back with another full Flight Log for you to digest. Playing catch-up with all the Air Chief’s various projects. But first, we had to share the coolest experience we’ve ever had with all you Loyal Airmen.
I’M FLYING
While in Florida, we visited a military museum in Naples. It is a remarkable place and all of us enjoyed it. But imagine our surprise when we learned they had two Flight Simulators and people could try them out. So Gus, our brother-in-law, and the Air Chief, immediately headed for that room and had the great fun of using them. Each was handled by an experienced pilot. The Air Chief sat down and within minutes was taking off in a small single engine aircraft flying over southwest Florida. What a hoot! And then under the pilot’s guidance, we brought her down in a not overly bouncy landing. Honestly, it was an experience we will always cherish. Alright, now back to the projects.
THE BOSTON BOMBERS Vol 2
The best news that happened while we were in Florida was that Indy Planet finally put up issue # 2 of our series, The Boston Bombers Vol 2. Rob Davis is doing all the art on this series, to include his dynamite color covers. In writing the script for this issue, we suggested the Cardinal look like the actor Morgan Freeman and as the cover and page above indicate, Rob captured that likeness brilliantly. So, if you’re picking up the series, go to (www.IndyPlanet.com) and pick up a copy. Let us know what you think.
BROTHER BONES THE GRAPHIC NOVEL
Artist Joe Arnold continues his masterwork in this project and he should have the first chapter of this project in relatively short time.
THE CRIMSON NUN
Artist David Mowry tweaked his original color illo of CN, as if it wasn’t already great. Meanwhile series artist Jesse Thomas, busy at work on issue two, offers up these first sketches of another key player in the series, one Henry Metien. The Air Chief promises, you are going to love this character.
HAMLET’S END
Artist Zane DeGaine continues work on wrapping issue #1 of our new western series. Note, along with the Air Chief, Zane, and his wife Olivia, herself a professional graphic artist, will be guest at this week-end’s annual Rocky Mountain Con promoted and orchestrated by our pal Tim Moret at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Denver. Show runs Sat 9 to Sunday 10th. Zane will have all the original pages of Hamlet’s End on display, plus a roster for con-goers to sign up for information as to when the official Kickstarter will launch in January of 2025. Gonna be a great weekend.
JIN & TONIK # 2
Hot on the heels of our release of JIN & TONIK #1, artist Cesar Feliciano is busy whipping up issue # 2. Above is the black and white cover and to the right, pg # 1. Matt Webb has signed on to color the cover and we’ll post that version when completed. Can’t wait to share it with all you Loyal Airmen.
IT’S BIRTHDAY TIME
FYI, I’ve now joined the Tues Night Silverline Comics Podcast. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egi0gr1RMVc) The good people publishing my BEYOND THE STARS series. Check it out.
Another highlight of the past week was on Nov 5th, while everyone’s attention was focused on our national elections, the Air Chief celebrated his 78th birthday. Oh yeah. And to start the day off right, Valerie made us our favorite food of all, crepes. Mom use to make them for us while growing up and before she passed, she gave Valerie the recipe. Trust me, Loyal Airmen, they tasted as good as they look in this photo above. Then later that night, after we’d gone out and voted, we had a small family party. Lo and behold Val, and our son Alan and his wife Nicole, surprised me with a brand new office chair. A Lazy Boy no less, with a great lumbar support feature. Hot dog, no more aching lower back after hours of writing away. Truly, the Air Chief was once again reminded what a blessed man he is.
And there you go, Loyal Airmen, this was one busy week and we’re always glad you stopped by. Take care and God bless.
Ron – Over & Out!
