Greetings Loyal Airmen, as you’ll recall, last week we mentioned that our tenth volume in the children’s book series, “Barry Baskerville and the Rare Coin” was within days of release. Well later that Friday it was up bright as a daisy on Amazon. Above the is the cover. As ever, story by creator Richard Kellogg with all art by Gary Kato and book design and layouts by Art Director Rob Davis. DRAGON ON A STAMP
One of the greatest martial artist and film stars ever to wow an audience was the late Bruce Lee. Via his role as Kato on the short-lived and much lamented TV series, The Green Hornet, Lee introduced the world to Chinese fighting ala Kung Fu. Then he went on to make the classic feature, “Enter the Dragon,” before dying suddenly. Last Saturday the Air Chief received a really sweet and funny Father’s Day card from daughter Heather that featured Marvel’s wacky hero, Deadpool. We loved it. Then as we were starting to put away the envelope it arrived in we realized the character on the stamps was nothing by the legend himself, the one and only Bruce Lee. Wow. It’s an honor long over due. Thanks US Postal, you got it right this time. And to you, Heather dear.

MR. JIGSAW MANGA STYLE
Reminding all you Loyal Airmen, the Mr. Jigsaw story being produced by Ben Dunn at Antarctic Press, using the same script we wrote for issue # 19 of the Mr. Jigsaw issue from Redbud Studio is still happening. Above is one of the current pages turned in by the “unknown” artist. Hopefully Ben will provide us with a name eventually. Ben says we’ve ten pages left and then….we shall see. At one point the idea of coloring “both” versions and publishing back to back was discussed. Again, we’ll leave this Ben. Still it is just plain weird seeing these pages done manga-style. CRIMSON NUN # 3
Meanwhile artist Jesse Thomas turns in his latest colored page from The Crimson Nun #3 and we couldn’t be more excited. Scene depicts young Gabrielle Cauxvette with Pope Pius XI and a character (guy in the beret) who will become important to her future. Trust me, Loyal Airmen, you are going to love this issue.
BIG BOY IN SCRANTON
Back in the early 1940, the Union Pacific Railroad had a few dozen giant locomotives built. They were nicknamed Big Boys. Today there is only a handful of them remaining. One such in the past month has crossed the country in conjunction with America’s 250th Birthday Celebration and two weeks ago arrived in Scranton, PA. Naturally its stops along the way has drawn thousands of viewers and among those in Scranton was our son Scott, a devoted train-enthusiast. His grandfather was a conductor all his life on the Boston & Maine Railroad. Anyways, Scott drove the two hours from his Connecticut home to view this marvel of engineering and snapped a few photos ala the one above. He tells me, this Big Boy will continue on per the plan of its arriving in Philadelphia on July 4th. Now that should be a sight to behold. Thanks Scott, for sharing this amazing experiences with us.
